It's been quite a while since I wrote a journal... and I haven't put up much art lately either! D: I'll go remedy that right now.
Exam time does that to you. I'm so busy busy busy! And although I still do make time to draw, I haven't done much more than quick pictures and sketches. I've also been working on several long-term projects: more Frills of Justice and whole bunch of tutorials on a variety of topics.
Since the semester has ended, I counted how many drawings I'd done in the margins of my lecture notes. There were over 700, mostly of my original characters. It's a bit sad that even though I have designed over 30 characters since joining deviantART, fewer than 10 appear in my gallery.

TRADITIONAL CON REPORT
I went to Oz Comic Con! Along with
40,000 other people. Apparently it's the biggest convention Melbourne has ever had. Score one for the nerds! I should add that as we only have about 4 million people here, that's like 1 in every 100 people (although some people came from interstate). There was definitely not enough space for everyone who turned up, and they did have to turn people away throughout the day. This was the first time it's been run, but they didn't realise just how many people would want to come.
I went as Trinity from the Matrix, but also organised a Marvel!Loki costume for a friend, in only 2 1/2 days. It was a bit of a rush, but successful. My pride and joy, the helmet, was the only full Loki helmet at the con, and I got to look on like a proud parent as people complimented her on it and adorable little children dressed as Thor waved at her shyly. I love conventions! Thankfully I love them enough to cheerfully endure waiting over 2 hours in the lines to get in/back in. Hopefully pictures soon, but I'm terrible at organising to take cosplay pics.

Another reason I haven't put up much art in the last few weeks is I'm having one of those
urgh-my-art-is-terrible-why-can't-it-be-better-grr moments. They're perfectly normal and I expect all artists get them. Luckily, I am inspired by the great art I see to do better, rather than to quit. I know that if I just keep doing it I will improve. Don't give up, my fellow artists!
It's been ages since I did a feature, so here's some art from my favourites that inspires me in different ways. I hope it inspires you too

I'm mostly working on anime/manga styles at the moment. I am DETERMINED to master the style, especially manga. I absolutely adore it as a medium. I even own a few copies of manga in languages I can't read because I just bought them for the art.
And with that, I'm off to draw some manga!
