Hi everyone

Supanova was last weekend, and it was great! And--for once--I had pockets in my costumes. Real actual pockets to keep stuff in so I didn't need a bag. If you're not a cosplayer, the significance of this probably doesn't register, but let me tell you it's a pretty big deal. I hate having to shove unsightly bags into the arms of obliging friends every time someone wants a photo, and they're a distraction from the costume too.
On the Saturday, when we did our group Starship cosplay, my Taz costume had an entire utility belt as well as extra pockets in the cargo pants, so I had pockets I didn't even use! Starship was so fun to do, and it was great seeing the reactions of the Starkids whom we met, especially to the huge orange Bug puppet. Bug caused quite a sensation even for the uninitiated since he was so big and fluoro. We had Bug, Taz, Up, Mega Girl and February. And to top it off, Holy Musical B@man came out that day, so I got to finish off a day of piggy-backing, lap-sitting and general toughness by watching it.
On the Sunday I went as Sophie from Howl's Moving Castle, which is a costume I've wanted to make ever since I first heard of cosplaying years ago. Since it's quite understated, I thought people wouldn't be that interested in it, but they were. My Calcifer plushie was adored by all (another orange cuddly thing, maybe there's a connection...), and again I had put pockets in my dress (yay!). The weirdest thing was a gaggle of young girls who refused to believe I wasn't actually the real Sophie, which was a little freaky but a compliment I guess.
And then...!
Starkid tweeted about our Starship cosplay!
Their comment was "whoa!". And it wasn't even a good picture, so I won't link you to it (I'll put up some pics soon, hopefully).

I don't know if you've noticed, but I've been deleting things from my gallery. Probably nothing you'll miss; they're mostly things nobody cared about. Just FYI.
That's it for now: I have to go and speed-read the Iliad in the hope of finding a tiny little reference to something that I want to put in my essay for tomorrow...
